Germain Doucet (1595)

Germain Doucet is my 10x Great Grandfather through my paternal grandmother's bloodline.

Germain Doucet dit LaVerdure was born in the year 1595 in Coubron, Paris, France to Germain Theophile Doucet and Priscilla Mallison. He married Marie Bourgeois in the year 1620 in Brie, Brittany, France.

Germain and Marie had 3 children:

Pierre Doucet Sr. (1621-1713) - (9x Great Grandfather to me)
Marguerite Louise Doucet (1634-1686)
Germain Doucet (1641-1698)

Germain died sometime after 1654 in Champagne, Aquitaine, France.

Portrait of French Commander
Germain Doucet
Germain Doucet is the progenitor of the Doucet Family in the French colony of Acadia (what is now New Brunswick, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island in Canada). Though the English forced him back to France in August of 1654, his sons, Pierre and Germain, who was either adopted or born out of wedlock to a native Mi'kmaq, and daughter, Marguerite stayed in the area counting them among the first settled in the area.
